Newgate Prison once dominated the area. What has often simply been described as ‘The Thing’ has been reported crawling and creeping along a wall that once bordered the area of Dead Man’s Walk.
The ground was used to bury those who were hanged at Newgate Prison, and some attribute this disturbing apparition to one of those lost souls.

Ludgate Hill is a hill in the City of London, near the old Ludgate, a gate to the City that was taken down, with its attached gaol, in 1780.
It is one of the three ancient hills of London, the others being Tower Hill and Cornhill. The highest point is just north of St. Paul's, at 17.6 metres above sea level.
